PNW Small Business ("we," "us," "our") operates the website at PNW Small Business and the Pacific Northwest Small Business Network ("Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We aim to comply with the Washington My Health My Data Act, the Washington Consumer Protection Act, the CAN-SPAM Act, and applicable U.S. state privacy laws.

1. Information we collect

  • Account info — name, email, business name, password (hashed), and optional profile details you provide.
  • Business listings — content you submit to the directory, including descriptions, photos, contact info, and reviews.
  • Newsletter signups — email and name when you opt in to our newsletter or download a resource.
  • Lead requests — information customers submit when requesting quotes (project type, ZIP code, contact info).
  • AI tool inputs — text prompts you enter into our free AI tools. Outputs are not retained beyond your session.
  • Usage data — pages visited, referrer, device, browser, IP address, and approximate location, collected via cookies and analytics.
  • Payment data — handled by Stripe; we never see full card numbers.

2. How we use information

  • Operate the directory, AI tools, community features, and lead-routing service.
  • Send transactional emails (account, lead notifications, receipts) and, with consent, our newsletter.
  • Route customer quote requests to relevant local businesses.
  • Detect and prevent fraud, spam, and abuse.
  • Improve features, measure performance, and produce aggregate analytics.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

3. Sharing your information

We share information only as needed:

  • Service providers — Supabase (hosting/database), Stripe (payments), email delivery providers, and AI model providers (Google, OpenAI, Anthropic) to power our tools.
  • Local businesses — when you submit a quote request, your contact info and project details are forwarded to matching businesses in your area.
  • Legal — when required by law, subpoena, or to protect rights and safety.
  • Business transfer — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Cookies and analytics

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and analytics cookies (Google Analytics or similar) to understand usage. You can block cookies in your browser; some features may not work.

5. Your rights

6. Data retention

We keep account and business data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period after to satisfy legal and operational needs. Newsletter records are kept until you unsubscribe. Lead requests are retained for 24 months for audit purposes.

We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, row-level security on our database, and access controls on internal systems. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong, unique password.

8. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

9. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced via email or a banner on the site.
