Town Square

Community guidelines

How the Pacific Northwest Town Square works, how we moderate it, and how we protect the people who post here.

What the Town Square is for

The Town Square is where Pacific Northwest customers ask for a business and Pacific Northwest owners answer. Requests, recommendations, questions, introductions, jobs, events and milestones all belong here.

Posting is free for everyone. You never have to pay to ask for help or to answer someone who needs it.

Ground rules

Be helpful before you're promotional. Answer what someone actually asked.

Pacific Northwest only — Washington, Oregon and Idaho.

Only offer work you actually do, and be honest about licensing and insurance.

One business introduction per company every 30 days.

No harassment, hate speech, adult content, scams, MLM recruiting or political campaigning.

Don't post someone else's phone number, address or private details.

How moderation works

Most posts go live the moment you hit post. We only hold something for a human look when it's a first post from a new member, a promotional type like an introduction or job, or when it trips an automatic flag such as spam wording or an unexpected link.

A moderator can approve a held post, ask you to change something, or remove it. Either way you get a notice explaining what happened and why.

Members who post consistently well get marked trusted, and their posts stop waiting in the queue entirely.

Repeated violations can suspend posting privileges. Every moderation action is logged with the moderator's name and reason.

Your privacy

If you leave a phone number or email on a request, it is stored privately. It is not shown on the page, not included in the public feed, and not readable by other members — only you and our moderators can see it.

Businesses respond in the open on your post. You decide whether to share your contact details with any of them.

We strip location and camera metadata from every photo before it is stored.

We never sell member contact information.

Photos

Up to five photos per post. Only upload images you own or have permission to use.

Add a short description of each photo so members using a screen reader know what's in it.

You can remove a photo from your own post at any time, and removing it deletes the file.

Reporting something

Every post, reply and photo has a report option. Reports are private — the person you report never sees your name.

We review reports quickly, usually the same day, and take action when something breaks these rules.

Businesses paying for placement

Sponsored placements in the community are rotated among paying members and are always visible as sponsor spots.

Paying for a listing never buys favorable moderation, and it never hides a legitimate complaint.

Questions or an appeal

If a moderation decision looks wrong, reply to the notice we sent you or reach out through the contact page. A person reads every message.
